9-Day Tour

Day 1 – Local departure by coach, then onwards to the Paris area for an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Continue south to Calella on the Costa del Maresme for a six-night stay. B,D
Day 3 – Costa Brava Coastal Tour (optional, included on Silver Service) First, to Tossa de Mar, a typical Catalan coastal town with narrow cobbled streets, medieval walls, a 14th-century church and plenty of bars. Then it’s on to Lloret de Mar, the liveliest resort on the Costa Brava, and finally historic Blanes, once famous for its lace making. B,D
Day 4 – Barcelona (included). Enjoy the delightful relaxed atmosphere, particularly along Las Ramblas. Our optional guided Barcelona sightseeing tour takes in many of the city’s sights, such as Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia, a spectacular church begun in 1882 and still under construction, the impressive 1992 Olympic Stadium and the bustling Las Ramblas, with free time to explore the bars, cafés and shops. B,D
Day 5 – Girona and Besalu (included). Behind Girona’s charming colourful houses lining the River Onyar lies the Old Town, with its imposing Gothic cathedral, maze of narrow streets and ‘Rambla de la Libertat’. We then make our way to the charming medieval town of Besalu. B,D
Day 6 – Catalan Country Tour (optional). We head to the cool of the wooded hills with our local guide, our first stop being the delightful spa-town of Sant Hilari Sacalm. Enjoy a delicious Catalan lunch, before returning to the coast. B,D
Day 7 – Montserrat (optional). Known locally as the ‘serrated mountain’, we travel through the mountains to the site of the 9thcentury Benedictine monastery. Its beautiful Basilica and turbulent history make this a fascinating place to visit. B,D
Day 8 – To the Paris area or northern France for an overnight stay.  B
Day 9 – To Calais then return home. B

12-Day Extra Leisure Tour

Our new 12-day tour offers an extra night in Spain and a more leisurely journey to and from Spain with extra overnight stays en route. 

Day 1 – Local departure by coach, then onwards to the Paris area for an overnight stay.
Day 2 – Spend the morning in Paris, before we head south to our overnight hotel in southern France. B,D
Day 3 – Cross into Spain and to Calella for a seven-night stay. B,D
Day 4 - 8 –  As days 3 to 7 of 9-day itinerary. B,D
Day 9 – Vic (optional, 12-day tour only). This small country town is built around the large gothic Placa Major. Dating back to 3rd Century BC, Vic has a long and fascinating history, with many Roman influences. The cathedral remains a classic in design and well worth a visit. B,D
Day 10 – To the Dijon area for an overnight stay. B  
Day 11 – Continue to northern France for an overnight stay. B
Day 12 – To Calais then return home. B

Accommodation

You’ll stay at the 3-star Hotel Volga in the coastal resort town of Calella. The hotel is in the centre of town, close to the beach. It has a lift, bar, restaurant, lounge and outdoor swimming pool. Overnights stops in France will be in city-style hotels.
