Your Itinerary
Day 1: From home to Carlisle
Let the adventure begin! We travel northwards to the Carlisle area, where we stay overnight.
Day 2: From Carlisle to Portrush, via Stranraer#
It's an early start as we sail with Stena Line from Stranraer to Belfast. Once on dry land we journey north, passing through Ballymena to arrive at our holiday resort of Portrush, where we settle for four nights at the Ramada Portrush Hotel - the perfect base from which we can explore!
Day 3: Belfast - a chance for you to explore
Today you're in for a treat as we travel to Belfast - a vibrant city with so much to see and do. Here, you can spend your day at leisure; fabulous shops, the Edwardian City Hall, and Queen's University are just a few of the sights to see. We recommend you round off the day with a drink in the Crown Liquor Saloon - one of the city's best!
Day 4: We're off to Giant's Causeway and Bushmills Railway!
An exciting day is ahead as we venture out to the legendary Giant's Causeway, where 40,000 symmetrical columns rise dramatically from the sea - a spectacular sight to behold! As the story goes, they were built by the Irish Giant Finn McCool, so his Scottish lover could walk across the sea to be with him! But the adventure doesn't stop there... we then join the recently renovated Bushmills Railway to take a relaxing journey aboard the beautifully restored steam railway. Our jaunt takes us past the glens and dramatic cliffs of the Antrim Coast as far as charming Cushendun and Cushendall - such a fantastic day out.
Day 5: A free day in Portrush
Now is your chance to explore the bustling Portrush with its beautiful beaches. Portrush is one of Northern Ireland's premier seaside resorts, and the oldest part of the town is built on a mile long peninsula, extending out into the sea.
Day 6: From Portrush to Dublin, visiting Downpatrick along the way
As we bid farewell to Portrush, we journey southwards to visit the fascinating St Patrick's Centre in Downpatrick. It is here in the nearby Down Cathedral that the remains of St Patrick are said to lie. Our next stop is Dublin, which is where we'll stay overnight in the St Stephen's Green area at the Camden Court Hotel.
Day 7: From Dublin to North Wales, via Dun Laoghaire and Holyhead
Another great city is just waiting to be discovered - dazzling Dublin! You can spend the morning exploring the city at leisure or join us on an optional guided tour. Then in the afternoon we make our way to Dun Laoghaire, where we embark on our ferry crossing over to Holyhead. Once on dry land it's off to North Wales for an overnight stay at the welcoming Legacy Victoria Hotel in Llanberis.
Day 8: From North Wales back to home
Following breakfast we head off home with fond memories of a great holiday!
